Service Description

What is this course about? This 3-class course is designed to raise your process-based expertise by considering how existentialism supports building psychological flexibility. This course considers ACT a dynamic and non-linear dance between client and clinician. We tend to associate ACT with other behavioral models like CBT and DBT, while this course considers how Logotherapy, Psychodynamic therapy, Gestalt, among other more existential modalities can transform ACT into a search for meaning and connection. Who is this course for? BCBAs and behavior interventionists will benefit from this course because it will use many behavioral principles to explore meaningful change, rather than merely socially reinforced change. It will help you develop a behavioral case conceptualization that can track progress across the hexaflex, not merely committed action as an indicator of change. Any clinician interested in deepening and broadening their ACT repertoire, and people interested in integrating more RFT into their practice- will also benefit. Learning objectives: How to conceptualize the ACT hexaflex processes as patterns of both cognitive and embodied relating to life How to foster Noticing as a foundational skill for other hexaflex processes How to develop in-flight, embodied interventions to support psychological flexibility How to realign Values and Committed Action as core processes, rather than the goals of ACT How to create goals and case conceptualizations from an ExACT standpoint How will this course work? To embody multi-exemplar training, we'll use a blend of didactic training, videos, slideshows, role plays, and dialogue. In addition, you'll receive an option for one individual case support meeting with me, where we focus on one of your cases from an ExACT standpoint, for $25
